This Division facilitates the Board’s outreach to Mobile’s neighborhoods. Through the administration of the City’s three Entitlement grants, assistance is provided to low and moderate-income residents and those with special needs. Many of the programs are carried out by community-based nonprofit organizations. Examples of the type of programs assisted include:

•   Youth Education

•   Elderly outreach assistance

•   Neighborhood development

•   New affordable home construction

•   Job training/job placement

•   Home rehabilitation loans

•   Emergency shelter assistance

•   Tenant-based rental assistance

•   Homeowner counseling

These programs are funded under one or more of the three grant programs the Board administers on behalf of the City: Community Development Block Grant CDBG, Home Investment Partnership, and Emergency Shelter Grant ESG.
