Mission Statement

The mission of the JCED is to equip low and moderate-income individuals with resources that promote economic self-sufficiency.

History

The Clinton L. Johnson Center for Economic Development is the brainchild of Mobile City Councilman Clinton L. Johnson.  His concept was to create a resource center that would not only provide Mobilians in and around his council district with job training, but also
transition people from public assistance to economic independence.

Facility

The 25, 000 sq.ft. center includes administrative offices, business resource library,  retail store, small business incubator, and a child development center.

Business Resource Library

The business resource library has many books, videos, magazines and other resources that can assist you with starting your own business, financial planning, marketing your business etc. USA Today and the Mobile Register are received daily.  High speed Internet access is also available.

Small Business Incubator

The incubator has office space available for five small start-up businesses or companies that have been in business for less than three years.  Renting space in an incubator allows you convenient access to a furnished office, fax machine, copier, computer, audio/video equipment, and a conference room.

Child Development Center
